Founder, Amy Cruzan-Flannery (Violin, Viola, Jazz Piano)
-La Primavera Music was formed in 1997 by Amy Cruzan-Flannery.

Ms. Cruzan-Flannery is a professionally trained musician who holds bachelors and masters degrees in music. She has played with numerous symphony orchestras including Reading Symphony, Lancaster Symphony, Delaware Symphony, Haddonfield Symphony, Kennett Square Symphony, Pennsylvania Pro Musica, and Pottstown Symphony. Internationally Ms. Cruzan-Flannery has played at the Curacao Symphony Summer Festival which consists of top musicians from Europe, South America, South Africa, and the United States. As a freelance musician, Ms. Cruzan-Flannery has had the opportunity to accompany many famous performers such as Tommy Lee from the CBS hit show: Rockstar Supernova, Electric Light Orchestra, Trans Siberian Orchestra, Frank Sinatra Jr., Josh Groben, Olivia Newton John and Anne Murray.

 

Anita Boyer (Violin)

Anita possesses both bachelor and master’s degrees in music performance and education from Southern Methodist University (Dallas, TX), Temple University and Arcadia University. She has been a freelance musician and music educator since 1992 and has performed with the Old York Road Symphony Orchestra, the Penn’s Landing Orchestra for special waterfront events and the Trans Siberian Orchestra. She also has played at the New Brunswick Theater in New Jersey, the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia and Avery Fisher Hall at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City.  Anita has played for a range of regional musical productions including Fiddler On the Roof, Annie Get Your Gun, Oklahoma, South Pacific, Pajama Game and more.

Ms. Boyer has also toured South America with the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra and has a vast experience in trio and quartet performance throughout Philadelphia, Chester and Bucks Counties. Anita is one of the artists featured on our newly recorded demo CD.

 

Linda Metzler (Cello) 

Linda is an active freelance performer and music educator in the Philadelphia area.  She is a frequent soloist at area churches and synagogues and performs regularly with the Reading and Pottstown Orchestras.  Ms. Metzler completed two degrees (Bachelor of Music, summa cum laude, Shenandoah Conservatory; Master of Music, Temple University) and studied principally with Jeffrey Solow, Allen Whear and Kenneth Lurie.  She is on the faculty of Doylestown School of Music and the Arts, Springside School and Beam's Music Studio.

 

Sergei Nuissl (Violin)

Sergei began his professional career in the first violin section of the Harrisburg Symphony and is presently a member of the Reading and Kennett Symphony Orchestras. He has played in Philadelphia with the Concerto Soloists and Orchestra 2001 Chamber Orchestras as well as performing at numerous local colleges, universities and churches. He was concertmaster with the Main Line Philomusica and Bucks County Symphony Orchestras and appeared as soloist with the MLP in Mendelssohn's Concerto in d minor. Sergei studied with members of the Curtis String Quartet at the New School of Music in Philadelphia. Other teachers have included David Arben and Davyd Booth of the Philadelphia Orchestra and Ms. Helen Kwalwasser. He is a violin teacher at the Kimberton-Waldorf and Springside Schools and was on the faculty of the Chestnut Hill Academy for over fifteen years. Sergei, his wife, Li-Ping and their son, Enoch make their home in Collegeville, Pennsylvania.

 
 

Melia Repko-Schmauk (Harp)

Melia Repko-Schmauk began playing the harp at an early age in Mystic, CT. She went on to receive her Masters degree from New England Conservatory and a Bachelors degree with honors from Peabody Conservatory. While living in Boston, she premiered and recorded works by John Harbison, Gardiner Read, Roy Harris, Michael Colgrass and Malcom Peyton. Composers Elliot Carter, Earl Kim and Gunther Schuller have coached her in performances of their works. She also worked closely with Daniel Pinkham, who dedicated his work, Divertimento for Trumpet and Harp to Melia and her husband, trumpeter Alex Schmauk.

As a freelancer, Melia has performed extensively throughout New England. Her engagements include an appearance as a soloist at a reception for President Clinton at the esteemed Thoreau Institute. She is now a resident of Dresher, PA and works with many of the local orchestras including the Delaware Symphony. Melia also regularly plays at functions at the Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons and other facilities in the Philadelphia area.

 
 

Elizabeth Sweitzer (Flutist)

Elizabeth Sweitzer began playing the flute in Bethlehem, PA when she was 8 years old.  Inspired and encouraged by her teacher, Robin Kani, she auditioned for the Juilliard School at age 15 and was accepted into their Preparatory Program.  After Juilliard, Elizabeth pursued her Bachelor of Music degree at the Oberlin Conservatory where she studied with renowned French flutist, Michel Debost.  She then went on to earn her Masters degree in Music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.  While in San Francisco, Elizabeth performed and taught extensively in the Bay Area.  In addition to frequent solo and chamber music performances, she played with the San Francisco Concerto Orchestra, San Francisco's Pocket Opera, and the Modesto Symphony.  She also taught both flute and chamber music at a variety of San Francisco venues, including: the San Francisco Community Music School, the Crowden School, and the Inner City Young Musicianship Program. 

After moving to the Philadelphia Area, Elizabeth has continued her work as a freelance musician and teacher.  She has given solo and chamber music recitals at a number of local establishments, including Moravian College's Payne Hall, Ursinus College's Bomberger Hall, and the Four Seasons in Philadelphia.  She has also taught flute and coached chamber music at the Settlement Music Schools in Jenkintown, West Philadelphia and Center City.

Currently, Elizabeth lives in Chester County.  She freelances locally and performs frequently with harpist, Melia Repko-Schmauk in the Amadeus Duo.  In addition to performing with her duo, Elizabeth enjoys playing with a variety of chamber ensembles, including: flute and piano; flute and violin, and cello; and flute and guitar.  She also teaches the flute and coaches a flute ensemble at the Community Music School in Trappe. 

 
 

Kevin Rosenberry (Trumpet)

It is with great sadness that we mourn the unexpected loss of our dear friend Kevin.  He passed away suddenly in the fall.  Our thoughts go out to his family.

Nate Green (Bagpipes)

Nate Green is a professional bagpipe player from the Philadelphia Area.  His costumed performances have earned him his esteemed reputation throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania.  He has played in countless festivals, weddings and funerals throughout the area.

 

All Musicians- All musicians associated with La Primavera String Quartet & Ensembles are professional musicians holding degrees in music from esteemed Universities and Conservatories throughout the United States. Musicians belong to various local AFM unions throughout the region and have been performing locally and abroad for years.
